Carey Road Marketing Earns State of Indiana & City of Indianapolis WBE Certification

CARMEL, IN – May 18, 2011 - Carey Road Marketing is pleased to announce certification by the state and city as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE). This special classification allows Carey Road Marketing to offer services to state and government offices as well as large corporations that require a percentage of woman or minority-owned vendor participation.

Governed by the Indiana Department of Administration’s Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise division, the official certification provides Carey Road Marketing with the ability to bid for work in the state department, state universities, casinos, and the City of Indianapolis.

The WBE classification provides added opportunities as well as serving as an additional source for knowledge, e.g., special access to training opportunities, workshops and other educational links allowing Carey Road Marketing to keep on top of the latest business and marketing trends to better serve all clients.

“The WBE certification does not guarantee any work or contracts; we still have to earn the business and prove our abilities,” Sharon Robbins, President of Carey Road Marketing said. “While we certainly hope to gain new clients, we also view this as an opportunity to help other companies support women-owned businesses at a tier two level.”

Minority and Women's Business Enterprises Division

1983, recognizing the importance of Minority and Women's Business Enterprises (MBE/WBE) participation in state purchases, Public Law 34 created the Governor's Commission on Minority Business Development, which is now the Governor's Commission on Minority and Women's Business Enterprises. The Commission's mandate is to explore opportunities and implement activities that will enable MBE/WBE to fully participate in the Procurement system. Each year, the Governor's Commission on Minority and Women's Business Enterprises sets participation goals for state contracts. Current state participation goals require WBE vendors to account for 8 percent of professional service vendors hired by state offices.
